How can I succesfully sing over a booming piano?

I have auditions in about 37 minutes for the school musical, but I remembered last year, when I could not sing over the piano whatsoever. You can’t even hear me, and this one is worse, because the song I have to sing is very soft. What are ways to help me sing louder?
We can’t use a mic.

You could ask the pianist to play a little softer. The technique I know is to support yourself from the stomach when you are singing and use your diaphragm. Good luck

Never try to sing over the piano. You might suggest to the player to be a little light on the keys or you might suggest going acapella. Remember, though, it’s performance time, so how you express your face, your body, etc., is more important in musical theater than trying to compete with an ill-tuned piano. Good luck.

Ask the pianist to be a little less loud! The judges don’t want a booming piano for their musical, what they want is a good singer. Hopefully you’ll have a different pianist this time, and if you don’t, just ask for them to not play at all and just sing without the piano. Afterall, the piano only aids in your audition, and you don’t actually need it. Good luck! =]
