I’ve always wanted to play the piano, but I don’t have one and I don’t know how to. But I can type quite fast on a QWERTY keyboard (while looking. Not that fast while not looking, and I make a lot of mistakes too). Is this an indication that I’m not going to make a good piano player? FYI, I’m already 18 and I have long fingers.

If you can type on a computer keyboard without looking, does it mean that you will make a good piano player?
Sunday, September 27th, 2009On a digital piano, is there a signifanct(noticeable) difference between 32 bit and 64 bit polyphony?
Saturday, September 26th, 2009
Is the difference between 32 and 64 bit noticeable? Does 64 bit sound more like a real piano when compared to 32-bit. I am a beginner and thinking of buying my first digital piano. The piano I liked(Yamaha YPG625) only has 32-bit. Please advise.
Is there any song that can be played only with 64 bit and not 32 bit?

I’d say a $1000 guitar and a piano that is good enough for concert performance ($2000 keyboard).
What is the best way to teach my 5 year old son piano?
Friday, September 11th, 2009
I have a 5 year old son that I would like to learn the piano. I’m 25 and have played since I was 5 or 6 … I know how to sight read and understand musical theory. I researched the Suzuki method, and I agree in it with some principles, but I think it fails in some as well (particularly sight reading). I have a grand and a digital piano, I was thinking of color coding the notes of C major, and writing out the colored notes on staff to songs of his liking. I don’t want him to feel forced, or like practicing should be a chore, so I really only want to focus on him learning songs he likes right now. Should I insist on good hand positioning, or just let him peck the notes for now so as not to frustrate him with mechanics?
He doesn’t show a whole lot of interest in the piano right now. When I was his age, however, I didn’t either, and my parents sent me to piano lessons with my older sister. I never felt forced, but they encouraged me to play. When I got somewhat decent, I loved it and have never looked back. Everyone in my family plays music, and I want him to be able to share this same great experience. I just don’t want him to get discouraged from practicing like so many people do.
Can someone who plays the xylophone be good at the piano if they practiced?
Friday, September 11th, 2009
I play the xylophone, and every piece I have learned I can play on my brother’s piano.
Is it possible for me to play the piano? I know all the notes and I taught myself how to play my xylophone pieces on it. I do not have any private lessons since my xylophone is for my school band classes.
Actually I meant is it possible for me to play piano sheet music? Or just any song like Love Song, by Sara Bareilles?

Does anyone have a diagram of a piano accordian?
Thursday, September 10th, 2009
I need to identify the internal and external components of a piano accordian and a picture would be most helpful? One that depicts each piece with a description. Either a digital image or link to a web site.

How long does it take averagely to get to Grade 6 or 7 in piano grading?
Friday, September 4th, 2009
I was wondering as i’ve been playing piano for 4 years but on and off and haven’t learnt more than 4 scales but have done theory grades 1 and 2. I’ve never been put in for any grading exams but hopefully will look into it soon. Just curious to know how long it takes on average for musicians.
Thank you.
