How do I find a piano teacher for my preschooler?
Tuesday, March 31st, 2009
She just turned four, has had some musical experience in “Music Together”, which is like Kindermusik. She enjoys music and has a great memory for melodies and songs. Her attention span is about 25-30 minutes when listening to something like a Mozart piano concerto. Is there a better way than simply flipping through the yellow pages?
It seems like you all are saying I shouldn’t find her a teacher, which is not the answer to my question. She likes to play on the piano already, can read words, sing the diatonic scale acsending and descending (and some simple tunes by tonal names, thanks to The Sound of Music), do addition and subtraction and count to 100. Going by her motivation, her attention span, and her cognitive skills, she seems ready for some structured musical instruction.
What would happen to a piano if you painted it? Would it harm it at all?
Monday, March 30th, 2009
I know it’s a stupid question, but I have never seen a piano any other colour than just natural wood. I was wondering if it would harm a piano in any way if you painted it?
Thanks very much for your time!
Becoming a piano performance major without previous experiance?
Monday, March 30th, 2009
Hello I’m very passionate about learning the piano and possibly pursuing a career as a performing musician(piano). However I have no previous experience other than toying around with a keyboard at my home. Is it even possible to do this since you have to audition to become a performance major? Say could I take lessons and general piano classes at college to get my skill level HIGH enough to then audition and major in performance? How long would it take to become proficient enough to audition and major in performance? Suggestions and answers from performing pianist majors is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Nora: The Sequel – Better than the original!
Sunday, March 29th, 2009
Features all-new footage and more duets. Better than the original! This is not a trick taught to Nora. She began sitting at the piano at about one-year-old. She’s almost four now. She plays only when the mood strikes her, which is usually several time a times a day for short periods.

Are there any qualifications needed to give piano lessons in the United States?
Saturday, March 28th, 2009
I’m a piano teacher in Japan. As I might live in USA in the future, I’d like to know if I could be a piano teacher there, too. If I need a degree or something, I’d like to try to have it.
I’d like to know what I need to be a piano teacher in USA.
Thank you.
